What to bring to your alteration appointment
A prepared fitting saves time and gives you the most accurate result. Here is what the shop needs from you:
The complete outfit
Bring the garment plus the shoes, foundation pieces, belt, or shirt that change where it should sit. A hem marked without the correct shoes will be wrong; a bodice fitted without the right bra will not sit correctly later.
Your timing
Share an event date or wear-by date early so the shop can discuss what is practical before accepting the work. Travel, pressing, and a final try-on may need their own time beyond the alteration itself.
Fit references
Photos are useful when they show the silhouette, length, or styling detail you have in mind. They help the tailor understand what you are aiming for, but the garment still needs an in-person inspection for a firm plan.
